Meet The Doctor

Dr. James Wimsatt, D.D.S.

Dr. Wimsatt started his career at the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry, and graduated in 1987 with his doctor’s degree. After graduation, he was accepted into an Air Force Dental General Practice Residency at Chanute Air Force Base in Illinois. He practiced general dentistry for three years at Altus Air Force Base in Oklahoma and was then accepted into the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery program at the University of Florida, Jacksonville and graduated in 1990. After graduation, he practiced oral surgery for three years at Scott AFB Illinois. Furthering his education, he was accepted into the Tumor and Reconstructive surgery fellowship at the University of Miami for one year. He was eventually stationed at Travis AFB California where he taught the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residents for one year, and was then promoted to the Program Director for two years. He spent the remainder of his military career teaching the Dental General Practice residents at various bases, until finally retiring as a Colonel from Elmendorf AFB, Alaska, in 2011. Dr. Wimsatt is now in private practice in Wasilla, Alaska as owner of Summit Oral Surgery.

Dr. Jason Dashow, D.D.S., M.D.

Dr. Dashow is a Board-Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon for All Alaska Oral & Craniofacial Surgery. While awaiting the grand opening of the aforementioned practice in Anchorage, Dr. Dashow is excited to join our team here at Summit Oral Surgery!


Dr. Dashow completed a two-year cleft and Craniofacial Surgical fellow ship at LSU Hospital, in Shreveport, Louisiana, receiving sub-specialized training in correction of pediatric facial anomalies. He graduated the dual-degree, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery/MD program at the University of Michigan. In addition to this training, Dr. Dashow completed a 2-year general surgery internship at the University of Michigan. Prior to his surgical training, he received a dental degree from the University of Washington and completed specialty head and neck anesthesia training at the University of Michigan.


In addition to practice interests including pediatric cleft and Craniofacial deformities, computer-aided surgical jaw correction, complex facial trauma and infection management, head and neck pathology, TMJ malfunction, third molar extraction, and dental implant placement, Dr. Dashow is also regularly involved in global surgical outreach, leading an annual cleft mission in Davao City, Philippines.


When he is not operating, Dr. Dashow enjoys spending time with my wife and three young children, running, playing bass guitar in the church band, hunting, and snowboarding.
